About The American Commentator

The American Commentator
A Review of Politics and Policy from the
Americans for Democratic Action Education Fund

The American Commentator is published by the Americans for Democratic Action Education Fund. Through feature articles, essays, interviews, personal remembrances, and reviews, we seek to promote a  stimulating dialogue about liberal ideas and ideals among ADA members and friends.

Each issue of The American Commentator is distributed without charge to the full mailing list of Americans for Democratic Action, numbering approximately 30,000 members and friends.

Letters to the Editor
We are happy to consider Letters to the Editor in responses to articles in the magazine. To be considered for publication, please send your letter (no more than 250 words) to:
theamericancommentator2020@gmail.com.

Becoming an Author for The American Commentator
We seek original feature articles (1,000-2,500 words), essays (500-750 words) and reviews (500-750 words) on topics of interest to a civically engaged audience that is generally supportive of the broad ideals of American liberalism. Our ideal contributions bridge the gap between “wonky” policy articles and more informal blog posts, written in a voice that is journalistic and informed. We do not publish “canned” or ghostwritten material. We can offer a modest honorarium of $100 for longer articles and $50 for shorter ones. If you have an article idea, please email us with a short description of what you have in mind:
theamericancommentator2020@gmail.com.

Sharing or Reprinting Articles
Readers are welcome to share or reprint articles for non-profit, educational purposes, so long as they provide full attribution of the author, article title, and this magazine.

Thanks and Acknowledgments
We wish to thank Alayna Cohen, a professional editor, for her careful review of article drafts, and Joel Cohen, a long-time ADA board member, for his generous donation that is underwriting our initial two years of operation.
